Michigan Brewing Company Auction Set for Tomorrow

I had my first High Seas IPA at DTW and thought it was gloriously refreshing.  So, I’m disappointed to learn that the assets that had a hand in creating it will be auctioned off tomorrow.  For those of you looking for more information about this turn of events, the Lansing State Journal has an in depth piece on it here.

But the demise of Michigan Brewing Company, while sad, is an opportunity for those of you looking to get in on purchasing some brewery equipment.  According to the website for Williams and Lipton, the auctioneers, the categories for the division of the lots involved in the auction are going to range from brewery and restaurant equipment to retail equipment, the brand names and intellectual property for Michigan Brewing Company and Celis Brands along with furniture, facebook, IP domains and Twitter accounts… the list goes on.

If you’d like to see pictures of the groups of equipment up for auction, the five groups can be viewed here:  Group 1; Group 2; Group 3; Group 4; and Group 5.

If you can’t make it out to 1093 Highview Drive, Webberville Michigan, there is an opportunity to register with BiddSpotter and bid online.  The auction advertisement, for those of you that can’t get the link to work is here:

You should know that true to traditional auction practices, the entire bulk offering will be put up for bidding first then they will break it out allowing for piecemeal bidding if there is a need.

Ashley Brandt

Hi there! I’m happy you’re here. My name is Ashley Brandt and I’m an attorney in Chicago representing clients in the Food and Beverage, Advertising, Media, and Real Estate industries. A while back I kept getting calls and questions from industry professionals and attorneys looking for advice and information on a fun and unique area of law that I’m lucky enough to practice in. These calls represented a serious lack of, and need for, some answers, news, and information on the legal aspects of marketing and media. I've got this deep seeded belief that information should be readily available and that the greatest benefit from the information age is open access to knowledge... so ... this blog seemed like the best way to accomplish that. I enjoy being an attorney and it’s given me some amazing opportunities, wonderful experiences, and an appreciation and love for this work. I live in Chicago and work at an exceptional law firm, Goldstein & McClintock, with some truly brilliant people. Feel free to contact me at any time with any issues, comments, concerns… frankly, after reading this far, I hope you take the time to at least let me know what you think about the blog and how I can make it a better resource.
