Brewers’ Input Needed for the NASS Hops Survey
The United States Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service keeps the information and compilations of data regarding hops production and stocks. The information that NASS compiles helps hops growers ensure that supply meets demand for the upcoming seasons.
In NASS own words:
Hops are mainly grown in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Hop stocks are released in March and September. Acreage is released in June. Yield is published in August and in the annual report which is released in December.
Every six months NASS surveys hops growers, merchants and brewers regarding their supply stocks to ensure that accurate statistics are maintained and that the information is accurately reported to the industry.
Information on NASS hops reports and surveys can be found here.
The most recent survey is underway and is set for completion by March 1, 2012.
